'Meet the Grower' recipes from Contract caterer Compass Group achieve red tractor status

15th June 2010, 12:06pm

Compass Group UK & Ireland's seasonal recipes have been accredited with the Red Tractor logo.

The accreditation means that from Red Tractor Week (14 – 20 June), 500 of Compass Group UK & Ireland's workplace and university sites which run 'Meet the Grower' recipe dishes will have the familiar Red Tractor logo.

The Red Tractor logo recognises food companies that meet high standards of food safety and hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection.

Mike Walden, executive director of commercial, Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: "All of the milk we use at Compass – 20 million litres a year from 82 individual farms and co-operatives – is already Red Tractor assured, so we are now delighted that all of our Meet the Grower dishes also qualify for this important kite-mark."

Penny Beauchamp, trade marketing manager, Assured Food Standards, added: "Qualifying for the Red Tractor logo is a significant achievement and we are delighted to have such a company as Compass Group UK & Ireland on board.

"We know that Compass is committed to simultaneously supporting the British farming community while maintaining tough standards which makes the partnership between Compass and Assured Foods a very solid one."
