FCSI Special Award announced at CEDA Conference

15th April 2011, 12:24pm

CEDA member C&C Catering Equipment Ltd have been awarded the FCSI Special Award for Outstanding Achievement in Project Management for the foodservice element of Project Shinkyo –the new home to Nomura Investment Bank in London.

The prestigious award – which recognises excellence in management by CEDA members of projects designed by FCSI consultants – was presented at the annual two-day CEDA conference, which took place in Cirencester on 7-8 April 2011.

FCSI professional members Kate Gould and Tim Dunn judged the award. Kate commented: "The FCSI special award is designed to recognise the excellence in projects worked on in partnership between CEDA and FCSI members. The winning team delivered an outstanding service, which simply outshone other entries when judged against the specific project management criteria. We focus on the implementation of the project, after the design stage is complete and look at factors including project co-ordination, quality of installation, the ability to overcome site problems and client endorsement."

The winning project – Project Shinkyo (Japanese for 'New Home') – had a total project value of £2.6m and was handed over on schedule, just 10 months after C&C Catering Equipment tendered for the job. C&C supplied and installed all catering equipment and managed the project designed and specified by FCSI member Humble Arnold Associates, whose partner, Andrew Humble, was closely involved throughout.

C&C and Humble Arnold fought off stiff competition from:

Vision Commercial Kitchens (CEDA) and SeftonHornWinch (FCSI) for Dinner by Heston Blumenthal

GS Group (CEDA) and Russell Partnership (FCSI) for The Grange at Buckfast Abbey
