The Seafood Training Academy hosts free conference day

31st August 2011, 10:25am

The Seafood Training Academy (STA), which is partly funded by Seafish, is hosting a free training conference and open day on 6 September, aimed at businesses and employers in the seafood industry.

The conference will give employers the opportunity to find out more about the many training courses offered by the STA and discuss their training needs.

The day will also see presentations from academy partners and key people from industry, along with workshops to demonstrate various seafood skills programmes on offer such as fish frying, filleting, smoking and quality assessment.

After a buffet lunch, the Grimsby Institute will host a discussion workshop on Lean Principles in the afternoon.

Paul Williams, Seafish chief executive, said: "This conference is an excellent opportunity for employers to see how the STA can help them train staff and improve their business. I would urge people to take advantage of this free resource and the advice on offer."

The conference will be held from 9.30 until 4.00 at the Humber Seafood Institute in Grimsby. Attendance is free of charge, but should be booked in advance. To reserve your place, please visit the STA website www.seafoodacademy.org, download the conference leaflet and complete the booking form.
